Ary Zara is a transgender writer and director, born in 86 in Portugal. He graduated in Cinema at Lusófona University in Lisbon and studied Writing for Narrative Production, Writing for Television and Intro to Screenwriting at University of Texas in Austin.

An Avocado Pit, his debut short film, has earned a spot on the 96th Oscar’s shortlist. This achievement comes after being showcased at over 80 festivals worldwide, where it garnered numerous awards and special mentions in festivals such as: Clermont-Ferrand, Indie Lisboa, AFI FEST, Brest European SFF, BFI, Festival International de Cine en Guadalajara and Outfest. Elliot Page has become Executive Producer of this short and it was sold to CANAL+ in France.
